Gratefulness, Thankfulness and Appreciation for the Nomination

Greetings.

I am touched and thankful today.

I just found out I was nominated by a fellow blogger for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award, “given to women bloggers, by other women bloggers, to showcase the unique voices across the world.”

Last night, I received a very nice comment on one of my posts from a devoted reader. Forever Shannon has one of the most optimistic blogs I’ve come across and she writes with wisdom beyond her years. It’s always inspiring to come across young minds who still see all the possibility in people and the world.

Well, miss Forever Shannon nominated me (along with a few others) for The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. I’m new to this whole “award” and “nominations” deal and while this is a community nomination from other bloggers, I find myself extremely touched that a fellow blogger and reader nominated this blog to be a part of the list.

So, this community nomination comes with three rules, 1) Recognize your nominator, 2)  Answer the following questions about yourself & 3) Nominate seven others. In full accordance to the rules, here goes 🙂

About Me:

1. If you could invent anything, what would it be?

An instant transport machine. There are so many wonderful things to see and visit in this world that are so darn hard to get to. An instant transport machine would allow you to live the world, literally.

2. What do you do to serve your community?

I mentor a local HS student to help her see her own potential. I live by the motto to see the potential in everyone in every day. There’s potential that exists in everyone: Potential for wisdom, potential for love, potential for kindness, potential for giving. Watching her grow lifts my heart.

I write Love Letters. Not just sappy romantic love letters to lovers, I write letters in hopes that my words my comfort someone in need. Join the movement – it’s a beautiful thing to share love with the world.

3. Favorite flower?

There are too many to pick from! I’ve always been a fan of stargazer lilies but as I’ve grown, I’ve come to love many flowers but my favorite trifecta of flowers would be stargazers, pink peonies and white orchids.

4. What is your weird obsession?

Do you mean obsessionS?

I love watching you tube videos of puppies. I am obsessed with pretty paper. I can’t stand it when maple syrup drenches my pancakes so I keep a pool of syrup on the side (or tilt my plate so that syrup and pancake cannot touch).

I like to make up weird songs and sing them to my dog when I’m happy. I converse with my dog and put her in baby onesies (because I think it’s so cute). I speak in text in real life conversation. I text using full words and statements. (No wonder I’m tongue tied and thumbs hurt).

I’m obsessed with constructing the perfect bite of food (and I’m obsessed with sauce). Whether I’m eating a fancy meal or a sandwich, I want to make sure every ingredient is represented on my fork for the perfect bite.

I’m obsessed with making all my wrongs, right.

I’m obsessed with love and love LOVE. It may be too much and too smothering. It may be too bold and honest.

5. What is your favorite letter of the alphabet and why?

“j”. It’s the first letter of my name. It’s the first letter of my love. It’s the first letter of one of my favorite words “joy.” The letter “j” is in a good place to be in the alphabet – not in the front, not in the back but right in the middle. The letter “j” has just the right about of class and sass with its soft curves and pop of punctuation because it is accented with its dot. It’s a letter that defies right angles, perpendicular lines, circumferences and arcs. It’s a letter that stands out without having to scream or show off its wide angles. That’s why it’s happy being in the middle of the alphabet. It will get noticed for just being itself.

6. What are three things you cannot live without?

Family = Friends (they all count as one). Coffee (lots of it). Faith.

7. Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?

I have two to my name right now. Neither are derivatives of my actual name. Both were endearing terms conjured out of silliness and laughter. Those nicknames represent identities of my past. Until I get a new nickname, I’ll have to share another time.

However, my middle name is the same as my last name. Most people think it’s a typo when I fill out forms. I find it entertaining. Hence, the “jchensquared.”

8. Favorite quote?

“With Love and Patience, all things are possible.”

9. What was your childhood movie?

I had two that I still think of today – Never Ending Story and The Little Mermaid. Total opposites yes, but to me, both movies were the epitome of fantasy, love and determination.

10. How are you doing today? 😀

I woke up to my health, a warm bed, sunshine, a full pot of French pressed coffee and am able to write while sitting outdoor at a café. I’d say today is a blessed day. How’s yours?

And here are my nominees:

Fantastic Em – A blog about travel adventures. And also some funny posts about her cats.

Le Zoe Musings – Cute designs, fun cocktail recipes and lifestyle blog. Such cute content and photography.

A more BeYOUtiful you – Great beauty tips and reviews for products.

kelzbelzphotography – This blog is a journey from sadness to happiness. Whenever I get email updates that a new blog has been posted I rush to read her posts. Reading her journey gives me hope.

Traveling the World Solo – I have really taken to reading blogs about travel, especially blogs about solo travels.

Problems with Infinity – So funny. Like shoot coffee out of your nose funny. Follow if you need a laugh!

Thanks to all of you who read and follow – I really TRULY am touched and am GRATEFUL for you. This blog has been a project that I have poured my heart into. I hope that for anyone who reads, you find the inspiration to write and find your voice as well.

Love.
